CROSSROADS COMMUNITY CHURCH
Position: Associate Pastor

Basic Function
The Associate Pastor primarily focuses on the pastoral responsibilities within the general congregation of the church. He will focus on shepherding of the church, helping new people connect in the church family, providing leadership over certain ministries, counseling, sharing Jesus with lost people, and assisting with baptisms, child dedications, funerals, weddings, and other associate pastor responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor or Staff Pastor.
Specific Ministry Responsibilities:
- Connect card follow up – connecting with new people.
- Shares counseling responsibilities with other pastors and staff members as assigned.
- Baptism and child dedication processes and follow up.
- Evangelism opportunities.
- Weddings, funerals, visitations.
- Administrative pastoral responsibilities.
- Acts as part of the team responsible for planning related to the Sunday services and completes duties related to this responsibility creatively and efficiently.
- Could be called on to supervise other ministry areas as assigned by the Senior or Staff Pastor.
- On occasion preaches God’s Word in a compelling style that connects with people who are at different stages of their spiritual journey.
- Other pastoral duties as assigned by the Staff or Senior Pastor.
Personal Qualifications Required:
- Must maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible study, prayer, and time spent contemplating God’s Word.
- Must be a man who maintains proper priorities in his home and lives according to the qualifications in 1 Timothy 3.
- Commits to the principle of tithing 10% of gross income and financially supports the ministries of Crossroads Community Church.
- Approachable and relatable for the church congregation, is someone they will want to go to for Biblical counsel.
- Has a humble, teachable spirit and desire to continuously learn and grow.
Strengths, Giftedness, Experience, & Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Strong grasp of Scripture and Biblical principles.
- Clear and previously demonstrated love and passion for people.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and is willing to continue to develop as a leader.
- Organizational and administrative skills.
- Creativity and flexibility to adapt as needed.
- Comfortable with recruiting and training of serving team members.
- Possesses a shepherd’s heart and has clearly demonstrated this through past actions.
- Is able to effectively teach God’s Word to others.
- Understands ministry is not a “9 to 5 job” and is willing to dedicate a minimum of two nights per week to ministry related activities. Night demands are balanced with flexibility that is present with the position to promote a healthy work/life balance.
- Actively lives out and models for the church a strong commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Crossroads.
- Agrees fully with the Converge Affirmation of Faith and Crossroads Community Church Statement of Faith.
- Believes in and has submitted to Believer’s baptism following his commitment to Christ.
- Comfortable and willing to lovingly challenge leaders, serving team members, or church members as needed when issues arise as well as admitting his own mistakes.
- Commits to resolve conflict via Biblical guidelines spelled out in Matthew.
- Regardless of areas of giftedness, must still have a heart for outreach.
- Basic software skills are required. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
- Prior vocational pastoral and seminary experience is not required. However, any candidate must demonstrate how he have been actively involved in the ministries of his local church and speak to why he believes it has prepared him for this role. He should also be prepared to speak to his plan for pursuing further education if he have not yet done so.
Relationships and Contacts:
- Reports to the Staff Pastor.
- Frequent contact with other Ministry Leaders.
- Works closely with other staff members.
- Reports out to the Elder Team as requested.
- Works with outside contacts, including other pastors, to continually examine and improve the effectiveness of the ministries at Crossroads.
Time Commitment:
Full time position of 40 + base hours per week. Hours will be a combination of office hours, weekend, and evening hours. Nights and weekend hours are driven by needs of the ministry.
